The Full Moon following the Harvest Moon, the closest to the Autumn Equinox, is always called the Hunter's Moon
On Sunday, October 9th, the full moon will rise. This full moon is called the Hunter's Moon as we move closer to the winter season, as it signals it is time to stockpile food supplies for the upcoming winter season. The thrill of hunting season, where the hunters can easily see deer and other animals coming out to root for food. This full moon, probably due to the looming threats of the colder season, was particularly revered.
This full moon is also sometimes called the Blood Moon due to this hunting spirit. While at times, October's full moon can also be called the Harvest Moon if it falls closer to the Autumn Equinox. This is quite unique, as the naming is not directly related to the folklore of early Native American, Colonial American, and European folklore, but which full moon falls closer to the Autumn Equinox.
While we no longer hunt and stockpile our food today, the energy of the Hunter's Moon can still be harnessed and celebrated. The Hunter's Moon speaks to going after your dreams, capturing them, and achieving your goals through strength and determination.

5 Rituals to use the Hunter's Moon energy to your benefit
Cleanse and Program Your Quartz
Now is the right time to acquire quartz, such as Selenite or Moonstone, if you do not have them. To cleanse them, use a damp cloth with water and a little salt, then charge them under the light of the Full Moon. Leave them overnight and then program them with an intention, which can be the goal you are focused on for the next lunar month.
Create a Lunar Elixir
Immerse some of your quartz in a jar of tap water (except for selenite, as it will dissolve in water). Let it rest for a few hours in the light of the October Full Moon and place it in a dispenser. Spray yourself with this lunar elixir whenever you need the energy to focus clearly on your goals for the month.
Energy Purification Bath
The Full Moon filled with the Hunter's energy is ideal for a purification bath and for focusing on the energy of the hunter. An energy purification bath is one of my favorite rituals. You can soak in any essential oils you have on hand, hot water, Epsom, or Himalayan salt (I use both), and add fresh flowers or herbs of your choice. A quick tip: If you don't have a bathtub, you can add all the ingredients into a container and use them in the shower by pouring them over your head and shoulders. I do this for quick energy cleanse when I cannot enjoy my full bath ritual.
Manifestation Ritual
One of the simplest rituals is to take a pen and paper and write down all your goals for the lunar month. Fold this sheet in half and place it in the window so that it receives the full energy of the Hunter's Moon. Keep the paper in a place that only you have access to, and on a new moon, see how many goals you accomplished.
Light a candle
Another option is to light a yellow or orange candle. At night with only the natural light of the Moon, light the candle you have chosen while you visualize the goals you want to achieve in the upcoming lunar cycle. This is perfect for when you are running short on time but still want to set an intention for the full moon.
